The computers and phones that we keep on our desks and inside our pockets started to play a significant role in our daily lives. They became our new digital office spaces, though by organizing them, you’ll become a happier, calmer, and more productive human being.

Initially, this article is a counterpart of the previous one on “Digital Minimalism — How to keep yourself digitally organized? — Part I”. And now let’s start right away with the second part:

Since I came to Germany, it is clear to me that I expanded my social network on a very noticeable scale. Hence, to maintain those contacts, I created an Excel sheet that consists of their business contact data (e.g. phone number, e-mail, field of business/work nature, and also how I got to know them).

We are all familiar with that embarrassing moment when you get a phone call from the recruiter, and sadly, you forgot about the job you applied to. Personally, I managed to overcome this issue by listing again all my applications on an Excel sheet, where I put the name of the company, position, city, contact person, the link of the vacancy, the date of sending the application, and the date of the last time contacted. Such a technique facilitates tracking of all the applications you sent, and once you get a job interview invitation, all you have to do is to go through that link and prepare yourself accordingly.

Nevertheless, if you also want to be less anxious about losing your ideas, adding a section in your digital notepad called “Dump Brain” (you can choose any other name) solves the problem of losing any of them. In essence, each time an idea pops up in your mind, you can easily open this section and write down all your thoughts. For instance, I can now make sure that all the video ideas for my YouTube channel are noted, and I can work on them effectively later on. Additionally, it can also be a way for journaling and to free your mind from all thoughts. Besides that, follow here the same laundry concept that I mentioned in the previous article. In nutshell, we do the laundry once the bag is full, and the same goes for almost everything else. Consequently, try to sort out all those notes and ideas in the right place only once a week.

Frankly, I established my digital organization routine upon these tips, and I became more productive, more focused, and essentially less anxious.

Hopefully, you had fun reading this, and make sure to not miss out on the chance to read the previous one. You won’t regret it. Otherwise, do you have any other tips? Let me please know in the comments.
